About Myrtex Oral Paste
Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis (RAS) is the most common ulcerative condition of the oral cavity, affecting 5 to 25% of the general population. The exact cause of RAS is not well understood, but it is associated with factors such as trauma, nutritional deficiencies, psychological stress, infections, food allergies, genetic factors, HIV infection, and systemic diseases like Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, Behcet's syndrome, and celiac disease.
The lesions of RAS can be classified into three types based on their clinical appearance: minor (less than 1 cm), major (more than 1 cm), and herpetiform (not related to herpes infection). The minor form is the most common, accounting for about 80% of recurrent aphthous ulcers.
Myrtus communis, the key ingredient in Myrtex Oral Paste, has antibacterial, analgesic, and antioxidant properties. Traditionally used in Iranian medicine as a mouthwash for treating candidiasis, research has shown that oral paste containing Myrtus communis is effective in reducing the size of aphthous ulcers, pain severity, erythema, exudate, and improving the quality of life for patients.
